This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +9 more states.
β’ Lead and expand a globally distributed team of 12 QA engineers specializing in both manual and automated testing.
β’ Collaborate with the outsourcing partner to staff pods, set quality expectations for partner engineers, and create a unified team.
β’ Develop and implement a hiring strategy that aligns with both team and organizational objectives.
β’ Establish processes, standards, and documentation for team performance.
β’ Mentor team members through one-on-ones, feedback sessions, coaching, and performance management.
β’ Take ownership of the go/no-go decision regarding release readiness and be accountable for it.
β’ Identify and highlight quality risks early in the release cycle.
β’ Negotiate release trade-offs with product and engineering stakeholders.
β’ Minimize post-release defects and hotfix rates, monitor production quality, and lead incident response efforts.
β’ Provide C-level executives with insights into quality coverage and implement plans for effective test coverage.
β’ Set quality KPIs in collaboration with leadership and drive progress towards achieving these goals.
β’ Advocate for and implement shift-left quality practices.
β’ Establish and communicate QA best practices to engineering partners.
β’ Enhance QA processes, tools, and automation opportunities.
β’ Document testing standards and maintain libraries of test cases.
β’ Report directly to the CTO and manage the QA function comprehensively.
β’ A minimum of 6 years of overall experience in QA.
β’ At least 3 years of experience in QA management, including overseeing globally distributed teams.
β’ Exceptional people management skills, including team member development, performance management, and cultivating a high-performing culture.
β’ Solution-oriented leadership in addressing quality incidents, focusing on root causes and scalable solutions.
β’ Strong communication skills to convey quality status, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Expertise in mobile QA, encompassing manual and automated QA, regression testing, test coverage, and device/OS matrix strategy.
β’ Proven ownership of release readiness decisions, including the reduction of post-release defects or hotfix frequency.
β’ Familiarity with AI-driven QA practices, utilizing AI on a daily basis and having implemented production QA processes reliant on it.
β’ Experience in designing and implementing innovative QA approaches within an organization, such as shift-left methodologies.
β’ Experience with consumer subscription mobile applications at scale (preferred).
