Quality Assurance Tester

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +17 more states.

📋 Description

• Create comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts that align with Appian requirements, user stories, functional specifications, and security parameters.

• Perform functional, regression, system integration, accessibility, and end-to-end testing for Appian applications deployed in AGC or ADC settings.

• Assess Appian components including interfaces, records, expression rules, process models, data types, document generation, and record security.

• Test Appian integrations, APIs, secure authentication flows (SAML, CAC, PKI), and connections with USCG enterprise systems.

• Ensure adherence to USCG cybersecurity policies, NIST standards, FedRAMP requirements, and DoD IL4/IL5 security guidelines.

• Analyze logging, auditing, escalation procedures, and exception-handling workflows.

• Detect defects, document issues, and monitor resolutions through change management protocols.

• Engage in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) with Coast Guard stakeholders.

• Assist in Agile activities such as daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.

• Track regression impacts and propose enhancements to testing coverage.

• Ensure that testing outcomes and documentation comply with USCG quality assurance, security, and configuration management standards.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Must possess a minimum of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level Security Clearance or the capability to obtain and retain one.

• At least 5 years of experience in software testing or quality assurance is necessary.

• Practical experience in testing Appian applications, including workflows, integrations, and interface components.

• Background in supporting applications in secure federal cloud environments (AGC, ADC, FedRAMP, DoD-authorized cloud environments) is preferred.

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies and tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, or Azure DevOps is advantageous.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills are essential.

• Capability to operate in structured, compliance-driven settings with stringent security and testing protocols.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field is required.

• Preferred qualifications include: Appian Certified Analyst, Designer, or Developer (Associate/Senior).

• Experience in supporting federal or DoD systems, especially mission-critical or operational systems, is preferred.

• Familiarity with USCG operational requirements, system environments, or enterprise architecture is a plus.

• Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD cybersecurity policies, or STIG requirements is preferred.

• Experience with API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI) or test automation frameworks is advantageous.

• Active Public Trust, Secret, or higher clearance is preferred.
