Quality Assurance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, maintain, and enhance automated tests for the Caseware IDEA Windows desktop application.

• Collaborate with the existing Ranorex-based automation framework, focusing on improving its reliability, maintainability, coverage, and execution efficiency.

• Assess alternative desktop automation tools or frameworks.

• Suggest, prototype, and assist in implementing practical automation solutions.

• Integrate automated tests into development processes, GitHub, CI/CD, and release validation workflows.

• Utilize AI-assisted engineering tools to expedite test authoring, debugging, analysis, and delivery tasks.

• Partner with developers and QA engineers to enhance testability, observability, and automation coverage.

• Conduct manual, exploratory, regression, and release validation testing.

• Engage in feature design, refinement, and technical discussions to identify quality risks.

• Convert product requirements, audit workflows, and customer scenarios into test strategies, test cases, and automation coverage.

• Investigate test failures, analyze root causes, and enhance product quality and automation reliability.

• Assist QA activities prior to software releases, including critical workflow and release candidate validation.

• Help establish automation standards, coding practices, review expectations, and maintainable test design patterns.

• Mentor and support QA team members in automation practices, tooling, troubleshooting, and technical test design.

• Develop product and domain knowledge, including IDEA workflows, audit concepts, and customer use cases.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proven experience as an SDET, Automation QA Engineer, QA Developer, or a similar quality engineering role.

• Strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated tests for complex software products.

• Experience with testing Windows desktop applications.

• Proficient programming or scripting skills, preferably in C#, PowerShell, or Python.

• Familiarity with desktop test automation tools such as Ranorex, WinAppDriver, Appium for Windows, or similar technologies.

• Knowledge of Playwright for modern web test automation is required.

• Ability to assess automation tools and frameworks and recommend practical improvements.

• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and integrating automated tests into build, validation, and release workflows.

• Experience with GitHub or similar source control and collaboration platforms.

• Essential proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Devin.

• Strong grasp of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, risk-based testing, and quality best practices.

• Capability to perform both automated and manual testing.

• Excellent analytical, debugging, and root-cause investigation skills.

• Good communication skills and capability to collaborate with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders.

• Interest in learning about audit, accounting, data analysis, and customer workflows.

• Familiarity with Postman is a plus.

• Knowledge of SQL and basic database validation is an asset.

• Familiarity with Windows command-line tools, scripting, installers, logs, and troubleshooting techniques is an asset.

• Experience with audit, accounting, fintech, or data analysis products is an advantage.
