QA Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Evaluate system requirements, user stories, and design documents to formulate test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.

• Execute manual functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, user acceptance, usability, and UI testing.

• Create, develop, maintain, and implement automated test scripts utilizing Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or WebdriverIO.

• Establish and uphold automated API testing suites using Postman, RestAssured, or comparable tools.

• Integrate automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines such as Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.

• Write and execute SQL queries to verify database migrations, assess data integrity, and confirm backend transactions.

• Carry out API, database, and backend validation testing.

• Conduct regression testing prior to planned deployment releases.

• Document, monitor, and manage software defects with Jira or Azure Boards.

• Collaborate with software developers to identify, replicate, and resolve system issues.

• Ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG standards.

• Generate test execution reports, quality metrics, and compliance documentation for project management and stakeholders.

• Work alongside developers, business analysts, and stakeholders in an Agile environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical area; equivalent professional experience may be accepted.

• At least 5+ years of professional software quality assurance and testing experience.

• 3+ years of practical experience in designing, writing, and executing automated test scripts for enterprise-level web applications.

• Demonstrated experience testing single-page applications developed with React or Angular and backends created with .NET or Java frameworks.

• Proficient in automated testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, and Playwright.

• Strong comprehension of RESTful API testing, JSON, and web services.

• Solid experience in database testing, with proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.

• Familiarity with Git and collaborative branching workflows.

• Strong knowledge of SDLC and STLC processes within an Agile/Scrum environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail along with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Preferred: experience with performance, load, and stress testing tools.

• Preferred: experience with cloud-based test automation platforms.

• Preferred: understanding of mobile application testing and responsive web design testing frameworks.

• Preferred: experience in security, vulnerability, or penetration testing.

• Preferred: practical knowledge of Section 508 compliance testing tools.

• U.S. citizenship required.

• Must have Public Trust or favorably adjudicated Secret Clearance to begin.

• Compliance with enterprise cybersecurity policies, OPSEC requirements, and system access regulations is mandatory.

• Certifications are preferred but not required, including DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher, CompTIA Security+ CE, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security, ISTQB, CSTE, CSM, or PSM.
