QA Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Design and implement test cases for Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and data solutions.

• Ensure data accuracy, business rules, calculations, KPIs, filters, and report functionalities are validated using SQL and source data.

• Verify data integrity across source systems, datasets, reporting layers, and semantic models as relevant.

• Conduct functional, regression, and release testing.

• Analyze requirements and acceptance criteria to establish the necessary test coverage.

• Identify, document, track, and retest defects until resolution.

• Create and uphold QA documentation, testing standards, and checklists.

• Assist in establishing and enhancing QA processes, testing methodologies, and test coverage within the BI team.

• Recognize automation opportunities and develop as well as maintain automated tests when suitable.

• Facilitate UAT and release validation activities.

• Collaborate with BI developers and Product Owners to clarify requirements, address issues, and communicate testing results and risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2.5–4 years of professional experience in QA testing, BI testing, data testing, or a related discipline.

• Proficiency in Power BI or comparable BI/reporting tools.

• Practical knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting.

• Experience in functional, regression, and data validation testing.

• Proven ability to create test cases, document defects, and track issues through to resolution.

• Understanding of QA processes and the software development lifecycle.

• Experience or familiarity with test automation and scripting tools such as Python.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

• Capability to work independently, manage assigned testing tasks, and communicate issues effectively.

• Experience with data warehousing, ETL, data pipelines, or cloud data platforms like BigQuery is a plus.

• Familiarity with Jira and Agile/Scrum methodologies is advantageous.
