This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.
• Take charge of the creation and ongoing management of data governance and data management initiatives within the Public Health Division.
• Curate, document, organize, and sustain Public Health data assets and metadata using Collibra.
• Promote the adoption and utilization of Collibra among users.
• Ensure that data is accurately recorded, comprehended, properly governed, and readily accessible for effective utilization.
• Assist in the development and upkeep of data governance processes, standards, guidelines, and SOPs.
• Collect, document, validate, and preserve business and technical metadata in collaboration with Business and Data Stewards.
• Manage the Public Health data catalog, business glossary, data definitions, and governance documentation.
• Record data ownership, stewardship, classifications, business rules, data quality requirements, and data lineage.
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for enhancement in metadata and data documentation.
• Organize governance workgroups and meetings, prepare materials, document decisions, and monitor follow-up actions.
• Facilitate discussions with business and technical stakeholders to establish a mutual understanding of data definitions, ownership, and business rules.
• Assist the Data Governance Lead in developing, reviewing, and maintaining governance standards, procedures, guidelines, and SOPs.
• Aid in the implementation and continuous improvement of Public Health data governance processes and practices.
• Document data lineage and relationships among source systems, data warehouse assets, and reporting and analytics products.
• Create and maintain metrics and reports on metadata completeness, stewardship activities, data quality, and governance adoption.
• Collaborate with Public Health programs, data engineering, analytics, IT, privacy, security, and other stakeholders on data initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Data Management, Business, Analytics, or a related field; relevant experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
• Familiarity with data governance, data stewardship, metadata management, data catalogs, business glossaries, and data quality practices.
• Practical experience with Collibra is strongly preferred, including providing training to business users and curating and maintaining data assets, metadata, business glossaries, and related governance content.
• Experience with a comparable data governance or data catalog tool may be considered in lieu of experience with Collibra.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience in building effective relationships with Business and Data Stewards, subject matter experts, and technical stakeholders to gather, validate, and maintain metadata.
• Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, ArcGIS, or similar data and analytics platforms is preferred.
• Experience in developing and maintaining process documentation, standards, procedures, guidelines, or Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
