Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver care to adolescent and adult patients, or throughout the lifespan, as assigned.

• Evaluate patients' mental and physical conditions based on presenting symptoms and complaints.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.

• Differentiate between physiologically and psychologically-based disorders and diagnose accordingly.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for patients with chronic or acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs, lab work, and other necessary examinations.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients on medication risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor patients' medication use, side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Assess patients' behavior and response to treatment to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

• Effectively manage challenging patients, employing verbal de-escalation techniques when required.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, or assess treatment plans.

• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications.

• Record medical and psychological histories, physical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation, including FMLA and other approved forms.

• Schedule and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek guidance from recommended references and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Current Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health.

• Open to acquiring additional state licensures.

• Experience with Motivational Interviewing.

• Willingness to collaborate with clients to achieve their goals.

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Must be comfortable working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 years and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual-diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Proficiency in treatment planning.

• Ability to perform and utilize comprehensive assessments.

• Experience with timely and quality documentation; familiarity with EHRs.

• Adaptable to technology including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance available.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is required and must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of other languages is a plus.

• Previous telehealth experience is an advantage.

• Prior experience within the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
