Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the mental and physical health status of patients based on their symptoms and concerns.

• Identify and diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between disorders that are physiologically and psychologically based and provide accurate diagnoses.

• Carry out individual psychotherapy for patients suffering from chronic or acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while informing patients about their risks, benefits, and potential side effects.

• Oversee medication usage, monitor side effects, and assess treatment outcomes.

• Analyze patient behavior and their response to various treatments.

• Effectively manage challenging patients and deescalate situations verbally when required.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to design, implement, and review treatment plans.

• Provide education to patients and their families regarding mental health issues, treatment options, and medications.

• Maintain detailed documentation of medical and psychological histories, physical examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation, including FMLA and other Brave-approved forms.

• Organize and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure precise documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Utilize recommended resources and seek clinical guidance from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license.

• Background in Addiction and Mental Health.

• Open to obtaining additional state licensure as needed.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing.

• Willingness to collaborate with clients to achieve their goals.

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfortable working with patients across a wide age range (13 years and older).

• Knowledgeable about mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Capable of conducting and applying comprehensive assessments.

• Demonstrates timely and quality documentation skills; familiar with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software, and comfortable using video communication.

• Aware of and compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance available.

• Clinicians with a Florida or New York license must maintain an active DEA registration.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of additional languages is a bonus.

• Previous telehealth experience is preferred.

• Prior experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
