Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Evaluate adolescent and adult patients, or individuals throughout their lifespan, based on their presenting symptoms and concerns.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.

• Differentiate between physiologically- and psychologically-based disorders and provide accurate diagnoses.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients about the associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor medication usage, side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Assess patient behavior and their response to treatment.

• Effectively deescalate challenging patients when required.

• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Inform patients and family members about their conditions, treatment plans, and medications.

• Maintain detailed documentation of medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative patient-care documentation, including FMLA and other approved forms.

• Organize and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national standards of care, and internal policies in practice.

• Consult with recommended resources and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical guidance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health is essential.

• Willingness to obtain additional state licenses.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing.

• Proven experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfort and experience working with patients of all ages (13 years and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Ability to perform and utilize comprehensive assessments effectively.

• Experience with timely and quality documentation, including familiarity with EHRs.

• Adaptable to technology such as telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Awareness and adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance with work eligibility is available.

• For clinicians with a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is required, which must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; proficiency in other languages is a bonus.

• Previous telehealth experience is preferred.

• Experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
