Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the mental and physical conditions of adolescent and adult patients.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between physiologically- and psychologically-driven disorders.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory analyses.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including those that are controlled substances.

• Inform patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Oversee medication use, side effects, outcomes, and patient responses to treatment.

• De-escalate challenging patient situations verbally when necessary.

• Work collaboratively with members of an interdisciplinary team to create, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Maintain accurate documentation of medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, prescriptions, treatment plans, and outcomes in the EHR.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation for patient care, including FMLA and other authorized forms.

• Organize and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment plans.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from recommended references and Clinical/Medical Directors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Background in Addiction and Mental Health.

• Open to pursuing additional state licenses.

• Experience with Motivational Interviewing.

• Willingness to collaborate with clients to meet their goals.

• Experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfort and experience in working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 and older).

• Understanding of mental health diagnoses and/or dual-diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Competency in treatment planning.

• Ability to perform and apply comprehensive assessments.

• Timely and high-quality documentation experience, especially with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software, and comfortable with video communications.

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance with work authorization is available.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is necessary and must be maintained by the clinician.

• Spanish-speaking ability and proficiency in additional languages are preferred.

• Previous experience in telehealth is preferred.

• Prior experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
