Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Evaluate adolescent and adult patients, or individuals across all age groups, based on their symptoms and concerns.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between disorders with physiological and psychological origins, diagnosing each appropriately.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for patients experiencing chronic or acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and inform patients about associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Oversee medication usage, side effects, patient behavior, and treatment responses.

• Effectively manage challenging patients and deescalate situations verbally when necessary.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to formulate, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Educate patients and their families concerning mental health issues, treatment strategies, and medications.

• Maintain documentation of medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation related to patient care, including FMLA and other approved forms.

• Organize and schedule follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Utilize recommended references and consult with the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical guidance as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Must currently possess a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health is required.

• Open to acquiring additional state licenses.

• Proficient in Motivational Interviewing techniques.

• Committed to collaborating with clients to meet their goals.

• Required experience working with adults needing general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfort and experience working with patients of all ages (13 years and older) are essential.

• Familiarity with mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse.

• Skills in treatment planning are required.

• Capable of conducting and applying comprehensive assessments.

• Timely and high-quality documentation experience; familiarity with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth platforms; comfortable with video communication.

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance will be provided.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is required and must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of other languages is a plus.

• Previous telehealth experience is advantageous.

• Experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
