Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Evaluate both the mental and physical health of patients based on their symptoms and concerns.

• Identify and diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between disorders stemming from physiological and psychological origins and provide appropriate diagnoses.

• Facilitate individual psychotherapy sessions for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory analyses.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while informing patients about their risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Oversee medication adherence, side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Assess patient behavior and reactions to treatment.

• Effectively deescalate challenging situations with patients when required.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to formulate, execute, and review treatment plans.

• Provide education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical and psychological histories, physical evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative paperwork, including FMLA and other authorized forms.

• Organize and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Utilize recommended resources and seek advice from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Active Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license.

• Background in Addiction and Mental Health.

• Willingness to pursue additional state licenses.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing.

• Commitment to collaborating with clients to achieve their goals.

• Proven experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfort and experience working with patients across various age groups (ages 13 and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Skills in treatment planning.

• Ability to perform and leverage comprehensive assessments.

• Proficient in timely and high-quality documentation; experience with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth platforms, and comfortable with video communication.

• Understanding of and adherence to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance provided.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is necessary and must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of additional languages is a bonus.

• Prior telehealth experience is advantageous.

• Experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
