This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Evaluate the mental and physical conditions of patients based on their symptoms and complaints.
• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues for accurate diagnosis.
• Differentiate between disorders rooted in physiological and psychological factors and diagnose accordingly.
• Provide individual psychotherapy for patients experiencing chronic or acute mental health disorders.
• Request diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work, as necessary.
• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients on the associated risks, benefits, and side effects.
• Monitor the use of medications, side effects, and overall treatment outcomes.
• Assess patient behavior and reactions to treatment.
• Effectively deescalate challenging patient situations when necessary.
• Collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team to create, implement, and assess treatment plans.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding mental health issues, treatment strategies, and medication information.
• Document medical and psychological histories, physical evaluations, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.
• Complete necessary administrative paperwork, including FMLA and other Brave-approved forms.
• Schedule and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment needs.
• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Operate in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.
• Utilize recommended resources and consult with the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director for clinical advice.
• Deliver care to adolescent and adult patients, or across the lifespan, as assigned.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Active Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) license.
• Background in Addiction and Mental Health.
• Open to pursuing additional state licenses.
• Experience with Motivational Interviewing.
• Willingness to collaborate with clients to reach their goals.
• Experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.
• Comfortable working with patients across all age groups (ages 13 and older).
• Knowledgeable about mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse.
• Proficient in treatment planning.
• Ability to conduct and apply comprehensive assessments.
• Timely and quality documentation skills; experience with EHR systems.
• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.
• Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
• Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance available.
• For clinicians with a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is required and must be maintained.
• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
• Previous experience with telehealth is preferred.
• Experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
• Full-time salaried position with W2 status.
• Monday to Friday work schedule; no on-call or weekend shifts.
• Shift options include: 9am-6pm ET, 10am-7pm ET, and 11am-8pm ET.
