Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Deliver care to adolescent and adult patients, or throughout the lifespan, as designated

• Evaluate patients’ mental and physical conditions based on their symptoms and complaints

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues

• Differentiate between physiologically and psychologically based disorders and provide appropriate diagnoses

• Conduct individual psychotherapy sessions for patients experiencing chronic or acute mental health disorders

• Order necessary diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients on the risks, benefits, and side effects of these medications

• Monitor medication adherence, side effects, and treatment outcomes

• Assess patient behavior and their reactions to treatment

• Effectively manage challenging patients and de-escalate situations verbally when required

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to formulate, execute, and assess treatment plans

• Provide education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications

• Record medical and psychological histories, evaluations, diagnoses, treatment strategies, prescriptions, and outcomes

• Complete necessary administrative documentation, including FMLA and other authorized forms

• Organize and schedule follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements

• Conduct patient visits and maintain accurate records in the EHR

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies

• Utilize recommended references and seek clinical guidance from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director when needed

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP)

• Background in Addiction and Mental Health

• Open to acquiring additional state licenses

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing

• Commitment to collaborating with clients to achieve their goals

• Must have experience treating adults with general mental health needs and/or severe mental illness (SMI)

• Must be comfortable working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 and older)

• Familiarity with mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse

• Proficient in treatment planning

• Ability to conduct and apply comprehensive assessments

• Experience with timely and high-quality documentation, including EHRs

• Comfortable with technology, including telehealth software, and proficient in video communication

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations

• Eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance available

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is necessary and must be maintained by the clinician

• Spanish-speaking skills are preferred, with proficiency in other languages being an advantage

• Prior telehealth experience is a plus

• Previous experience in the Community Mental Health sector is beneficial
