Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate adolescent and adult patients, or individuals across various age groups, based on their symptoms and concerns.

• Identify and diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between disorders rooted in physiological versus psychological origins and make accurate diagnoses.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for patients experiencing chronic or acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while informing patients about associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Oversee medication use, monitor side effects, and assess treatment outcomes.

• Analyze patient behavior and their response to treatments.

• Deescalate challenging situations with patients verbally when required.

• Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to create, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.

• Provide education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment plans, and medications.

• Maintain documentation of medical and psychological histories, physical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative paperwork, including FMLA and other approved forms.

• Organize and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from recommended references and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Must currently hold a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Background in Addiction and Mental Health is essential.

• Open to obtaining additional state licenses as needed.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing is required.

• A commitment to collaborating with clients to reach their goals is necessary.

• Experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment is a must.

• Comfort and experience in working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 and older) is required.

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual diagnoses involving substance abuse is expected.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Capability to conduct and apply comprehensive assessments.

• Timeliness and quality in documentation; experience with electronic health records (EHRs) is important.

• Adaptability to technology including telehealth software and comfort with video communication is necessary.

• Understanding of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligibility to work in the United States; no sponsorship or assistance for work eligibility will be provided.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is required and must be maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; proficiency in other languages is an advantage.

• Prior telehealth experience is preferred.

• Previous experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
