Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the mental and physical health status of adolescent and adult patients based on their symptoms and concerns.

• Identify and diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.

• Differentiate between physiologically-based and psychologically-based disorders for accurate diagnosis.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs, laboratory work, and additional assessments as required.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients about associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor the use of medications, side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Assess patient behavior and their response to treatment.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Inform patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and prescribed medications.

• Effectively manage challenging patients and deescalate situations verbally when necessary.

• Maintain thorough documentation of medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete administrative documentation, including FMLA and other necessary forms.

• Schedule and manage follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment needs.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation within the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from recommended references and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health fields.

• Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.

• Experience in Motivational Interviewing.

• Commitment to partnering with clients to achieve their goals.

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Experience and comfort working with patients throughout the lifespan (ages 13 years and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual-diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Ability to perform and apply comprehensive assessments.

• Experience with timely and quality documentation, including familiarity with EHRs.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance will be provided.

• Clinicians holding a Florida or New York license must maintain an active DEA registration.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of other languages is a plus.

• Previous telehealth experience is preferred.

• Experience within the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
