Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Evaluate the mental and physical status of adolescent and adult patients.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health issues.

• Differentiate between physiologically and psychologically-based disorders for accurate diagnosis.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Order diagnostic tests including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including those that are controlled substances.

• Inform patients about the risks, benefits, and side effects of medications.

• Oversee medication use, side effects, outcomes, behaviors, and treatment responses.

• Deescalate challenging patients verbally when necessary.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to formulate, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Educate patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications.

• Record medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete required administrative documentation, including FMLA and Brave-approved forms.

• Organize and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from recommended references and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in both Addiction and Mental Health fields.

• Willingness to pursue additional state licenses.

• Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques.

• Commitment to partnering with clients to achieve their goals.

• Experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfort and experience working with patients across the age spectrum (aged 13 years and above).

• Understanding of mental health diagnoses and/or substance abuse dual-diagnoses.

• Skills in treatment planning.

• Ability to conduct and apply comprehensive assessments.

• Proficiency in timely and quality documentation; experience with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance available.

• For clinicians licensed in Florida or New York, an active DEA registration is required and must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; fluency in other languages is a plus.

• Previous experience in telehealth is preferred.

• Prior experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
