This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Deliver Advanced Practice Provider services through virtual outpatient care.
• Independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients within the parameters of training, licensing, credentialing, and scope of practice.
• Conduct and document thorough health histories and physical examinations.
• Initiate CPR or other suitable emergency interventions as necessary.
• Develop diagnoses, identify problems and health-risk profiles, and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
• Carry out, order, and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays and laboratory studies.
• Perform procedures that fall within the scope of practice and privileges granted by UVA Health System.
• Prescribe medications, treatments, and therapies following Virginia's prescribing regulations.
• Request consultations and initiate referrals to specialists.
• Assess patient responses to disease processes and both therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.
• Educate and support patients and their families regarding disease processes and treatment strategies.
• Participate in on-call duties as designated by the department or unit.
• Manage patient care in accordance with UVA Medical Center and UVA UPG policies and procedures.
• Report births, deaths, outbreaks of communicable diseases, and other mandated health information.
• Meet quality standards set forth by the Medical Director and/or UVA Health System.
• Engage in committees, student clinical experiences, and review activities as requested.
• Prepare necessary reports, claims, and correspondence for professional services.
• Act as a clinical resource for nursing, medical, and allied health professionals.
• Adhere to UPG, UVA Medical Center, CMS, and contracted-payer policies and procedures.
• Accurately assign CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Keep practice knowledge current through continuing education and professional conferences.
• Seek professional development opportunities and deliver educational programs.
• Perform additional duties aligned with licensed independent-provider services.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience is required.
• Must be a resident and possess a license in Virginia.
• Graduate from an accredited graduate nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
• Must have or be eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider under Virginia regulations.
• If a Nurse Practitioner, a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is necessary.
• Must maintain credentialing and licensing standards of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or Virginia Board of Nursing, and applicable certifying entities.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Current PALS/NRP certification, as required for the role.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, as necessary for the position.
• Strong communication, auditory, and visual skills.
• Keen attention to detail with the ability to write clearly.
• Capacity to lift/push/pull between 50–100 lbs.
• Ability to perform mandated physical activities and withstand potential exposure to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases.
