Protocol and Special Events Intern – AI and Digital Solutions

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Evaluate current Laboratory tour and protocol materials.

• Create and develop a SharePoint site, AI assistant, and associated processes for internal utilization.

• Generate automated datasets and Power BI dashboards to showcase forthcoming tours and visits.

• Build a secure AI assistant to assist with protocol-related tasks.

• Produce a procedural notebook for the ongoing administrative oversight of the site, dashboard, and AI assistant.

• Provide training for department personnel on the usage and upkeep of the new tools.

• Assist with testing, documentation, collection of user feedback, and activities for continuous improvement.

• Execute other responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must meet eligibility requirements to access the Laboratory in accordance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

• Must be a college or university student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited institution, pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, information systems, business analytics, or a related field.

• Experience in developing AI-enabled applications or utilizing large language model APIs.

• Proficiency in programming or software development.

• Proven experience with SharePoint site design, Power Automate, Power BI dashboard development, or Microsoft Graph.

• Experience in documenting technical processes and training users who are not technically inclined.

• Background in event operations, protocol, communications, or business process improvement within a national laboratory setting.

• Capability to work autonomously in a remote environment and communicate efficiently with a multidisciplinary team.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Must be classified as a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. national, or U.S. protected individual.

• Assignments extending beyond 179 days necessitate the completion and approval of a federal background investigation.

• External candidates chosen for the position must successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
