Property Risk Control Field Technical Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough on-site inspections of properties and perform technical risk assessments.

• Execute detailed physical examinations of commercial accounts and properties with high hazards.

• Analyze exposures associated with special hazards, fire protection, catastrophe risks, crime, and liability.

• Assess life safety systems, fire protection apparatus, building construction, and structural soundness.

• Prepare survey reports featuring building diagrams, digital images, and recommendations for risk improvements.

• Develop Property Loss Expectancies, including PML, NLE, and MFL metrics.

• Collaborate with underwriting teams to assist in pricing and policy formulation.

• Communicate hazards and exposures to clients, offering cost-effective solutions for loss reduction.

• Follow up on clients' implementation of recommendations.

• Review fire protection and building plans for both new constructions and upgrades of existing properties in accordance with NFPA and FM guidelines.

• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, NFPA standards, and FM guidelines.

• Provide technical training and support to clients and internal teams.

• Act as a technical resource for members of the Risk Control team.

• Conduct individualized training and joint surveys with regional field staff.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience in Large Property loss control, risk evaluation, Highly Protected Risk (HPR) environments, or similar fields.

• Preferred certifications include CFPS, CSP, or equivalent credentials.

• Skilled in hazard identification, particularly in Middle Market, Large Account, and Specialty property settings.

• Strong grasp of property risk assessment and strategies for hazard mitigation.

• Capability to interpret and apply national safety standards and codes.

• Proficient in conveying complex technical information to various audiences.

• Skilled at influencing stakeholders to act on recommendations for risk control.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and report-writing skills.

• Proficient in interviewing techniques and capable of technical report writing.

• Ability to climb fixed ladders, unless flat roofs are accessible via an elevator, staircase, or alternative means.

• Must reside within the designated territory.

• Travel is required.

• A valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle report are necessary if driving.

• Capability to inspect flat roofs that are only accessible through fixed ladder access.
