Project Manager – Infrastructure and IT Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Oversee infrastructure and IT operations initiatives for enterprise clients in Western Europe, primarily focusing on managed service providers and financial institutions.

• Take responsibility for the delivery of assigned infrastructure and IT operations projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.

• Maintain the project plan, responsibility matrix, risk register, and provide reporting to both client and internal stakeholders.

• Monitor project scope in relation to the statement of work; identify changes, prepare change requests, and evaluate their impact on budget and schedule.

• Lead the project team in collaboration with the solution architect and technical leads, managing team capacity effectively.

• Conduct steering committees and status reviews, escalate decisions, and manage client expectations proactively.

• Coordinate project delivery with client change and release management, including overseeing maintenance windows and production teams.

• Manage project acceptance by establishing criteria, coordinating testing, and obtaining formal sign-off on the delivered scope.

• Transition the delivered environment to managed service operations, including the operating model and service level agreements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing IT projects, with at least 3 years focused on infrastructure, IT operations, or cloud projects.

• Proven delivery experience in at least two of the following areas: operations automation, patch and vulnerability management, observability, virtualization, private cloud, public cloud, or migration programs.

• Experience with projects delivered both on-premises and in the public cloud, with a solid understanding of hybrid constraints.

• Experience in fixed price delivery: scope management, change management, and accountability for project margins.

• Experience working with enterprise clients, including running steering committees and managing stakeholders at the management level.

• Strong technical literacy to engage in discussions about architecture, automation, and monitoring tools with architects and engineers, without performing the engineering tasks personally.

• Proficiency in planning, estimation, risk management, and reporting within classic, agile, or hybrid models, utilizing Jira and Confluence.

• Proficient in English at a C1 level for conducting project meetings, negotiating scope, and producing client documentation.

• Experience with security projects such as infrastructure hardening, vulnerability management, security monitoring, or compliance controls from ISO 27001, NIS2, or DORA.

• Experience in identity and access management projects, including directory services, single sign-on and federation, privileged access management, and access reviews.

• Experience in transitioning environments to managed service operations, focusing on service design, service levels, and operational processes.

• PRINCE2 or PMP certification along with ITIL, or proficiency in German or Dutch.
