This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the daily implementation of Silicon Ranch's interconnection process for a designated portfolio of development and acquired projects.
• Oversee interconnection processes and negotiations from site selection to execution, including interconnection agreements, system studies, affected systems studies, and engineering contracts.
• Coordinate power flow simulation analyses, models, and congestion studies to support site selection, interconnection agreements, PPAs, financing, and origination.
• Monitor and manage interconnection commercial arrangements to optimize costs, schedules, and risks.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with utilities, ISOs, and industry stakeholders.
• Act as the primary point of contact for interconnection status and risk, escalating issues to the VP of Interconnection when necessary.
• Assist with regional interconnection processes, best practices, and due diligence for potential acquisitions.
• Contribute to tactical plans while tracking tariff, planning, accessibility, and interconnection developments in both new and existing markets.
• Provide insights on utility system loading, deliverability, congestion, interconnection costs, and generation-tie alternatives.
• Aid in project ranking, prioritization, budget forecasting, underwriting, and development-stage gates.
• Monitor interconnection milestones, utility studies, equipment/testing coordination, facility construction, witness testing, and energization through to commercial operation.
• Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, utilities, clients, financial institutions, off-takers, investors, government agencies, and other entities.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline is preferred, with a focus on power.
• 2-4 years of experience in power generation interconnections; experience with solar and project siting is highly valued.
• Familiarity with WECC interconnection processes is an advantage.
• Comprehensive understanding of generation interconnection tariffs, agreements, and requirements in one or more key markets, including knowledge of the process from initial interconnection request to utility operations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Relevant experience within the US renewable energy sector, project development, or interconnection is preferred.
• Understanding of grid operations topics.
• Working knowledge of the transmission system planning process.
• Familiarity with interconnection agreements and the capacity to support negotiations for utility acceptance of SRC modifications.
• General understanding of power flow modeling and its results.
• Capability to build strong working relationships with utilities, ISOs, and industry representatives.
• Strong public speaking and presentation abilities, capable of articulating complex technical topics and writing technical reports.
• Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills, able to apply engineering principles to identify and resolve issues.
