This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee Plug Power’s GenFuel services to clients, focusing on pre-construction execution.
• Enhance engineering processes and develop predictive permitting guides to shorten pre-construction timelines.
• Increase the precision of projected construction start dates for effective organizational planning and revenue forecasting.
• Manage the pre-construction stage, which includes third-party engineering, contractor proposals, and the permitting process.
• Facilitate presentations and maintain relationships with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to navigate regulatory challenges.
• Conduct in-person follow-ups with local authorities and agencies to avert project delays and clarify any misunderstandings.
• Create and oversee project timelines and budget constraints while addressing any bottlenecks.
• Analyze and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, identify missing elements, and work with suppliers and contractors on finalized products.
• Collaborate with industrial gas companies, internal project teams, contractors, and local regulators during project deployments.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of Plug Power products and hydrogen infrastructure systems.
• Engage with internal project teams and end-customers to set clear expectations, manage risks, and fulfill commitments.
• Represent Plug Power in regulatory hearings and during customer engagements.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or a relevant field).
• At least three (3) years of experience in project-based engineering roles and construction project management, demonstrating a successful history in pre-construction workflows and obtaining complex building/environmental permits.
• PMP certification is strongly preferred.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the U.S. to customer locations and jurisdictional offices; potentially up to 100% of the time.
• Proven ability to engage, present to, and influence AHJs (Fire Marshals, zoning boards, town councils) to obtain approvals without causing project delays.
• Expertise in mechanical systems and troubleshooting; capable of identifying errors in engineering submission packages before they reach regulators.
• Demonstrated success in project management; delivering quality outcomes on schedule and within budget while streamlining phase timelines.
• Experience in the hydrogen and/or fuel cells sector, cryogenic industry, high-pressure systems (250 Bar and above), gas processing and/or dispensing equipment, oil and gas/CNG/LNG, or logistics/material handling is highly advantageous.
• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences and regulatory stakeholders.
