This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +44 more states.
• Lead preconstruction initiatives for high-voltage electrical projects spanning from 12kV to over 500kV systems
• Supervise project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and constructability assessments
• Formulate project execution strategies that align with client objectives and company aspirations
• Coordinate preconstruction deliverables from project initiation through to construction handover
• Create conceptual, budgetary, and detailed cost estimates
• Evaluate engineering designs, specifications, and bid documents
• Assess labor productivity, equipment needs, and material costs
• Generate quantity takeoffs and pinpoint cost-saving opportunities
• Maintain estimating databases and track market pricing trends
• Act as the primary preconstruction contact for clients, utilities, consultants, and internal stakeholders
• Engage in project pursuits and proposal presentations
• Conduct project kickoff meetings and sessions for stakeholder alignment
• Cultivate and maintain client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Identify risks associated with scope, schedule, procurement, labor, permitting, and site conditions
• Lead constructability reviews and value-engineering processes
• Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans
• Review project execution plans focusing on safety, quality, and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to create detailed project schedules
• Identify long-lead equipment needs, including transformers, breakers, switchgear, and protection systems
• Monitor critical path activities and project milestones
• Assist in the development of procurement strategies
• Solicit and assess vendor and subcontractor proposals
• Create bid packages and scopes of work
• Analyze supplier capabilities and delivery timelines
• Work with engineering, operations, finance, procurement, and business development teams
• Ensure consistency among estimates, schedules, and execution plans
• Facilitate the transition from preconstruction to construction operations
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is preferred
• Equivalent industry experience may be taken into account
• Over 7 years of experience in electrical construction, high-voltage projects, estimating, or project management
• More than 3 years of experience leading preconstruction efforts is preferred
• Experience with substations, transmission lines, utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, or industrial electrical projects
• Experience managing projects valued at over $10M is preferred
• Knowledge of high-voltage substations
• Familiarity with transmission and distribution systems
• Understanding of utility interconnection requirements
• Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards
• Familiarity with EPC and design-build delivery approaches
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
• Competence in Bluebeam
• Familiarity with Accubid, InEight, HeavyBid, or similar estimating software
• Proficiency in Procore or equivalent construction management software
• Willingness to travel to project sites, client meetings, and utility facilities as needed
• Capability to work in both office and field environments
