Project Manager – Bridges and Civil Structures, Structural Calculation Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Serve as the lead expert in structural calculations for the Rhône-Alpes Bridges and Civil Structures team, acting as the primary point of contact for modeling, design, repair, and structural reinforcement.

• Conduct and oversee structural assessments.

• Perform and manage intricate calculations and structural modeling activities.

• Execute and review construction-stage calculations for various structures.

• Review and validate calculation notes produced by the team to ensure consistency and quality.

• Establish and enhance standard methods, assumptions, and calculation tools, while documenting lessons learned.

• Keep abreast of regulatory and standard developments, sharing updates with the team.

• Provide support, training, and development for engineers and draftspeople in the realm of structural calculations.

• Offer technical support to project managers during the tendering and design phases, addressing sensitive technical issues with clients and external reviewers.

• Engage in specialized internal and external working groups.

• Assist in crafting responses to tenders and proposals.

• Contribute to the company’s research and development initiatives, focusing on new materials, strengthening methods, digital tools, publications, and partnerships.

• Carry out structural assessments.

• Conduct design studies, which include preliminary design, detailed design, calculation notes, and preparation of tender documents.

• Supervise project reviews and controls.

• Provide oversight during construction for bridge and civil-structure projects.

• Ensure the quality of studies and construction works while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.

• Coordinate the efforts of draftspeople.

• Engage in design and construction project management assignments specifically related to the repair and assessment of existing structures.

⛳️ Requirements

• An engineering degree in bridges and civil structures or civil engineering from institutions such as ESTP, INSA, ENTPE, Arts et Métiers, Polytech, ENISE, CHEC, ISBA, or an equivalent qualification.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in structural calculation and design for bridges and civil structures, preferably within an engineering consultancy or as part of an owner's engineering/project-management team.

• Proficient in structural analysis and advanced modeling techniques.

• Robust experience with prestressed concrete.

• Advanced knowledge of Eurocodes.

• Expertise in bridge and civil-structure design.

• Experience in the repair, assessment, and evaluation of existing structures.

• Proficient in IT and office software applications.

• Ideally, possess good knowledge of AutoCAD and structural calculation software (such as ST1, Robot).

• Strong comprehension of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) principles along with applicable regulations and standards.

• A methodical approach, along with strong analytical and synthesis skills, and a knack for teaching.

• Passion for knowledge sharing and team development.

• Technical curiosity and a keen interest in innovation and R&D.

• Excellent writing skills and the ability to articulate and defend technical decisions in front of clients.
