This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee and execute bridge and structural engineering projects from initiation through to construction phase.
• Create proposals encompassing scope, timeline, budget, and conduct client interviews.
• Foster and sustain relationships with clients, agency partners, and collaborating consultants throughout Northern and Central California.
• Manage multidisciplinary project teams and liaise with civil, survey, environmental, and construction stakeholders.
• Supervise and mentor engineers in the preparation of PS&E packages, technical studies, reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Conduct and evaluate bridge analysis and design utilizing bridge-specific finite element and section analysis software.
• Ensure that designs adhere to AASHTO LRFD, seismic design standards, and relevant codes and regulations.
• Provide construction assistance, which includes site visits, handling RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
• Lead bridge inspection and preventative maintenance initiatives as necessary.
• Articulate complex technical concepts both in writing and verbally while representing the firm in a professional manner.
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, workload, and performance metrics across various simultaneous assignments.
• A Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• A California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is essential.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in bridge and structural design along with project management.
• A robust understanding of bridge design codes, seismic principles, and construction methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing clients, and delivering intricate capital projects.
• Must be capable of regular verbal communication, hearing, and using a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
• Occasionally required to lift, push/pull, and carry up to 20 pounds, with necessary accommodations.
• Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be necessary.
