This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Report to the Preconstruction Manager.
• Analyze RFP packages to comprehend the scope, schedule, deliverables, and commercial requirements.
• Generate comprehensive EPC cost estimates for projects related to transmission, distribution, substations, generation, and industrial electrical sectors.
• Assist in creating complete proposal submissions and ensure they meet client needs and internal standards.
• Work collaboratively with estimating, engineering, procurement, project controls, and other stakeholders on scope, pricing, execution plans, and schedules.
• Coordinate and participate in site visits to collect field-level data and evaluate constructability.
• Prepare or aid in the development of project execution plans, cost estimates, schedules, environmental considerations, safety measures, quality assessments, ITP documents, risk evaluations, pricing, alternative proposals, and executive summary documents.
• Engage subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing and ensure alignment on scope.
• Review client commercial terms and manage risk assessments and compliance documentation.
• Maintain the basis of estimates throughout the proposal development process.
• Organize internal estimate review meetings and final bid submission evaluations.
• Conduct estimate hand-off meetings with Project Management after the contract award.
• Assist in managing change orders and scope modifications.
• Participate in project close-out activities and post-mortem evaluations.
• Support CRM tracking of proposal statuses, client interactions, and business development metrics.
• Submit necessary administrative documentation, including daily timesheets.
• Promote continuous improvement in estimating processes and the quality of proposals.
• Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, or certification as a Journeyperson Electrician or Power Systems Electrician is considered a strong asset.
• At least 3 years of experience in electrical estimating, ideally within electric utility or EPC environments.
• Experience with renewable, distribution, and substation projects is an advantage.
• Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor productivity.
• Familiarity with Hard Dollar or similar estimating software.
• Proficient in utilizing digital take-off tools such as Bluebeam.
• Capable of developing project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with document management software like SharePoint.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Capable of conveying estimate assumptions, risk considerations, and commercial impacts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented; adept at managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
