Project Director – Retail Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in China.

📋 Description

• Supervise the complete delivery of extensive, multi-site retail development and construction initiatives.

• Provide strategic direction for retail construction, renovation, and rollout initiatives across various regions.

• Act as the main client contact, establishing trusted advisor relationships with C-suite and real estate executives.

• Lead collaborative teams consisting of architects, contractors, vendors, and internal JLL specialists.

• Oversee scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, financial forecasting, change management, milestone tracking, and reporting.

• Ensure adherence to local regulations, safety standards, brand requirements, and ESG/sustainability commitments.

• Apply best practices and technology solutions like BIM and Procore, as well as lessons learned from previous projects.

• Mentor and nurture junior project managers and coordinators.

• Work closely with Capital Markets, Leasing, and Facilities Management teams to provide integrated client solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

• A minimum of 12–15 years of experience in construction project management.

• At least 8 years dedicated to retail environments.

• Demonstrated success in managing portfolios exceeding $10M or multi-location rollouts for national/international retail brands.

• In-depth understanding of construction methods, cost estimation, contract management (AIA, JCT, etc.), and building codes.

• Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED AP, RIBA, or equivalent are highly preferred.

• Outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud).

• Willingness to travel 30–40% as project demands necessitate.
