Project Development Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Act as the technical resource contact for the DI sales team during the pre-sale phase, assisting in the development of opportunity scope, costing, and application to align with client design objectives.

• Continue involvement with projects post-sale as a system technical resource within the project management team.

• Provide support for DI turn-key, equipment-only, and specialized project assignments.

• Deliver precise and effective Project Development Engineering support, resulting in well-defined and successfully awarded projects.

• Evaluate specifications, drawings, and customer requests to ascertain project scope, schedule, risk, and technical delivery needs.

• Collaborate closely with sales personnel, product engineering, and manufacturing leads to ensure a unified understanding of the project.

• Assist the sales team in formulating project scope, schedule, risk assessment, and project information management.

• Facilitate the development of estimates and proposals through efficient internal communication.

• Engage in discussions about new product offerings and stay informed of industry trends in products and technology.

• Comprehend PowerSecure product lines, business models, sales processes, strategic goals, and project delivery requirements.

• Serve as the technical liaison for the Sales team.

• Participate in company training, industry/product training, or certification classes, as well as marketing events in industry sectors.

• Execute post-sale engineering project management.

• Manage and prioritize multiple pre-sale and post-sale projects along with ERP documentation tasks.

• Travel as needed to client projects, vendor sites, job locations, and event venues.

• Develop and oversee projects.

• Lead and present customer meetings.

• Specify and secure accurate vendor quotes.

• Work in a professional office environment while occasionally reviewing projects on the shop floor.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• At least 7 years of experience as an electrical consultant, application/development engineer, or in a related industry role.

• Proficient in CAD software.

• Strong computer software skills.

• Electrical Engineering skills will be evaluated through an assessment.

• Capability to develop concept drawing sets, including Electrical One-line Diagrams and Site Layouts.

• In-depth knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical power systems, application analysis, and estimating skills.

• Familiarity with reciprocating engine and power distribution equipment design.

• Knowledge of codes and standards interpretation and application (NEC, NFPA, IBC, IEEE, etc.).

• Experience in power system modeling (fault, coordination, arc flash) using SKM is a plus.

• Understanding of utility interconnect applications and process management.

• Strong strategic and analytical thinking abilities.

• High attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset.

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with strong relationship-building abilities.

• Ability to effectively balance multiple projects and documentation requirements.

• Proficient prioritization and management of pre-sale and post-sale tasks within the ERP system.

• Proficiency in reading and communicating in English.

• Capability to develop and manage projects.

• Ability to present and lead customer meetings.

• Skill in specifying and obtaining accurate vendor quotes.

• Limited local travel is required (less than 10%).

• Must be able to work in an office environment with substantial sitting and tolerate a full day of computer screen viewing.
