This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Develop and uphold Shermco’s standards, procedures, templates, reporting requirements, and governance expectations for project controls.
• Determine minimum control measures based on the project's size, complexity, contract type, schedule risk, and financial exposure.
• Standardize the creation of baselines, forecast updates, variance analysis, change tracking, schedule controls, risk visibility, and project performance reporting.
• Assist PMO leadership in identifying when enhanced project controls support is necessary.
• Supervise the tracking of project baselines, actual and committed costs, estimate to complete (ETC), estimate at completion (EAC), revenue, billing, and projected gross margin.
• Create forecasting practices that offer early insights into margin fluctuations, cost exposure, and expected financial results.
• Analyze significant variances and forecast modifications, helping to pinpoint corrective actions or escalation needs.
• Collaborate with Finance and Operations to enhance forecast accuracy, financial reconciliation, and executive trust in reporting.
• Set scheduling standards and manage baseline schedules, milestone plans, look-ahead schedules, critical-path assessments, and schedule recovery strategies.
• Ensure that material, subcontractor, customer, resource, and outage dependencies are integrated into schedules.
• Establish controls for change events, change orders, unpriced exposure, pending customer decisions, and commercial risks.
• Integrate project risks, issues, and actions into controls reporting and escalate significant impacts.
• Link risk and change exposure to EAC, margin, and schedule forecasts.
• Develop project and portfolio dashboards that encompass financial performance, schedule status, change exposure, risk, and forecasting trends.
• Lead regular project controls reviews and assist in executive reporting for high-risk projects.
• Manage, mentor, and develop Project Controls Analysts and Project Schedulers/Planners.
• Promote continuous improvement in data quality, reporting efficiency, project systems, and controls maturity throughout the PMO.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be accepted.
• A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in project controls, project management, cost control, scheduling, or related project-delivery activities.
• Proven experience supporting complex projects in industrial services, construction, utilities, electrical services, EPC, data centers, or a similar project environment.
• Experience in developing or leading cost, schedule, forecasting, and project reporting processes across multiple projects or business units.
• Prior leadership or functional ownership experience is strongly preferred.
• PMP, AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP), Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), PMI-SP, or comparable professional certification is preferred.
• Experience in implementing or enhancing a project controls function within a growing organization is preferred.
• Willingness to travel 20-30% is required.
