This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the strategy, administration, compliance, and ongoing enhancement of WelbeHealth’s leave of absence and accommodation programs.
• Act as the organizational subject matter expert for managing leaves.
• Collaborate with People leaders, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Operations, and external administrators.
• Take ownership of leave programs including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, personal leave, coordination of workers’ compensation, paid family leave, and associated accommodations.
• Improve the overall leave and re-entry process.
• Create and implement a long-term leave management strategy that prioritizes compliance, efficiency, employee experience, and scalability.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex or sensitive issues related to leave and accommodations.
• Manage relationships with vendors, set service-level expectations, conduct audits, handle escalations, and perform performance reviews.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws regarding leave and accommodations.
• Keep track of legislative changes and evaluate their impact on the organization.
• Suggest updates to policies, practices, and training programs.
• Maintain accurate and thorough records of leave and accommodation.
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
• At least five (5) years of progressive experience in leave administration, disability management, accommodations, or related HR programs, including experience managing complex cases in a multi-state context.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience leading programs, projects, or teams, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive process improvements.
• In-depth knowledge and practical application of federal and state leave and disability laws, including FMLA, ADA, PWFA, CFRA, HIPAA, and paid family leave programs.
• Required familiarity with California statutory leave and disability programs.
• Experience in overseeing third-party leave administrators and managing vendor relationships.
• Preferred experience in administering or coordinating workers’ compensation claims.
• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, CLMS) is preferred.
• Proof of vaccination or a vaccine declination form is required prior to employment.
• Must adhere to required infection control and PPE standards.
