This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the effective execution of The Literate Brain professional learning initiative for the Department of War Education Activity.
• Take charge of the program strategy and implementation plan, converting contract requirements into milestones, roles, deliverables, evaluation metrics, and criteria for success.
• Direct the creation of professional learning focused on the Science of Reading and Science of Writing that aligns with the DoWEA's scope of work.
• Manage the delivery of professional development through various formats including live, virtual, train-the-trainer, regional, district, headquarters, and asynchronous experiences.
• Ensure instructional consistency, relevance across grade bands, and effective application in PK–5 classrooms.
• Collaborate with DoWEA stakeholders and coordinate contributions from internal teams.
• Monitor deliverables, address risks and issues, and escalate concerns that impact scope, quality, timeline, or customer outcomes.
• Coordinate the deployment of digital resources, ensuring system compatibility, accessibility, data protection, and ongoing support requirements are met.
• Lead evaluation efforts, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop evaluation tools and compile annual reports.
• Conduct annual briefings for senior leadership.
• Travel both domestically and internationally to assist with DoWEA regional and headquarters meetings.
• 5–7 years of pertinent professional experience in literacy, education, professional learning, curriculum and instruction, or a related area.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Science of Reading, Science of Writing, Structured Literacy, cognitive science, and pedagogical content knowledge.
• Proven ability to apply literacy and educational principles to PK–5 instruction.
• An advanced degree in literacy, reading, curriculum and instruction, education, or a related field, or recognized national expertise in literacy or education.
• Demonstrated expertise in the design and facilitation of professional learning experiences.
• Experience in designing, facilitating, and/or supervising evidence-based learning experiences for elementary educators, instructional coaches, school leaders, or similar audiences.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a history of producing accurate, polished deliverables.
• Experience in managing complex workstreams with minimal errors.
• Successful management of at least one professional learning or coaching program implementation at an elementary school within a school system.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; a current passport is required.
• Ability to work efficiently across U.S. and international time zones.
• Capacity to meet customer-required background, security, privacy training, and installation access requirements.
• U.S. citizenship may be necessary for roles involving DoWEA personally identifiable information or controlled unclassified information.
• Preferred advanced specialized training in the Science of Reading and Writing.
• Familiarity with learning management systems and technical proficiency in digital learning implementation, platform integrations, accessibility, and user access is preferred.
