Program Engineer – Federal Platform, IT Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the comprehensive execution of intricate federal platform, IT services, and infrastructure programs, which encompass cloud modernization, automation, and security integrations.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Security, Compliance, and Product leadership to establish program strategy, priorities, milestones, and success metrics.

• Supervise large-scale cloud projects across AWS and federal environments, ensuring they are scalable, cost-effective, secure, and operationally resilient.

• Manage the Infrastructure-as-Code operating model for GovCloud, incorporating Terraform coverage, automated deployments, and minimizing manual change management.

• Spearhead enterprise disaster recovery efforts, including cross-region failover architecture, validation of recovery time and recovery point objectives, and regular resilience testing.

• Promote Zero Trust identity initiatives, such as KeeperPAM deployment, SCIM expansion, and automated identity lifecycle management for federal settings.

• Collaborate with Information Security to facilitate FedRAMP High hardening, STIG validation, and ongoing compliance monitoring for federal-facing services.

• Embed security-by-design and compliance standards into federal platform and IT services programs, including FedRAMP, DoD Impact Levels, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.

• Work with Security Engineering and the CISO organization to uphold program-level compliance and audit readiness.

• Partner with Engineering teams to enhance deployment pipelines, minimize release friction, and bolster platform reliability.

• Advocate for automated testing, security scanning, release governance, and standardized operational processes.

• Oversee observability and monitoring initiatives to enhance system visibility, performance, and incident response across federal and commercial settings.

• Define and monitor service-level indicators, service-level objectives, and error budgets in collaboration with Engineering and Security teams.

• Recruit, onboard, mentor, and nurture Federal Platform Operations engineers as the team expands.

• Act as a cross-functional technical liaison, ensuring effective communication, dependency tracking, and alignment among teams.

• Manage program timelines, technical risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations across multiple simultaneous initiatives.

• Implement Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies based on program specifications.

• Assess emerging technologies that enhance Keeper’s federal platform, IT services, cloud automation, security, and monitoring capabilities.

• Utilize AI-enabled tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms to aid in technical research, program analysis, documentation, stakeholder communication, and workflow efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in federal IT, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or related technical fields supporting government or regulated missions.

• 4+ years of experience leading technical programs, platform initiatives, or complex cross-functional engineering projects in SaaS, cloud-native, or cybersecurity environments.

• Proven experience delivering on FedRAMP, DoD IL4/IL5, STIG, or DoD Cloud Computing SRG requirements.

• Extensive experience with AWS cloud services, including ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, and IAM; AWS GovCloud experience is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and cloud automation technologies like Terraform, container platforms, and automated deployment pipelines.

• Strong grasp of cloud security, automation, and contemporary platform engineering methodologies in federal environments.

• Demonstrated success in managing complex initiatives within high-security, federal, or compliance-driven environments.

• Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana, along with related incident-management workflows.

• Experience in building, mentoring, or leading technical teams in rapidly growing environments.

• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders, resolve dependencies, and manage expectations.

• Ability to effectively utilize AI-enabled tools for technical research, documentation, analysis, and program execution.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of Keeper’s federal contracts.
