This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the management of intricate and high-stakes professional liability claims, including E&O, miscellaneous professional liability, and associated management liability issues.
• Assess coverage, liability, damages, and exposure factors in line with policy stipulations and relevant legal standards.
• Set and uphold precise claim reserves based on changing claim information and exposure evaluations.
• Supervise investigation tactics and guarantee prompt claim resolutions.
• Handle litigation involving insured professionals, including tracking defense counsel effectiveness, litigation strategies, and legal expenditures.
• Review and authorize significant coverage decisions, settlement proposals, and reserve adjustments within delegated authority limits.
• Offer insights on intricate coverage matters, reservation of rights positions, and coverage evaluations.
• Engage in mediations, settlement discussions, and other dispute resolution sessions as required.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate claims professionals dealing with professional liability claims.
• Conduct file assessments to ensure technical excellence, regulatory adherence, and compliance with company best practices.
• Set performance standards and foster employee growth through coaching and training initiatives.
• Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of top-tier claims talent.
• Manage claims inventory to meet operational performance goals.
• Monitor reserve sufficiency and engage in financial forecasting activities.
• Evaluate claim trends and performance metrics, proposing process enhancements.
• Ensure adherence to company authority guidelines and reporting protocols.
• Cultivate productive relationships with insured parties, brokers, defense attorneys, and internal business collaborators.
• Provide comprehensive reporting to senior management regarding noteworthy claim activities.
• Collaborate with underwriting to spot emerging claim trends and loss factors.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in commercial insurance claims.
• Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in managing Professional Liability and/or Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims.
• Proven experience in handling complex, litigated, and high-severity claims.
• Strong grasp of insurance coverage evaluation and policy interpretation.
• Experience overseeing external counsel and managing litigation budgets.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including supervision, mentoring, or management of claims staff.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Effective leadership and personnel development abilities.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Preferred: Over 15 years of claims experience.
• Preferred: Prior management experience leading a professional liability claims unit or team.
• Preferred: Experience with Architects & Engineers, Insurance Agents E&O, Lawyers Professional Liability, Accountants Professional Liability, Technology E&O, or Miscellaneous Professional Liability programs.
• Preferred: Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, AIC, ARM, SCLA, or equivalent.
• Preferred: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
