This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +14 more states.
β’ Ensure timely abstraction of charges for all applicable patient encounters within the Nemours Children's Clinical Practice.
β’ Report the abstracted charges through EPIC EHR, external interfaces, or other approved methods.
β’ Engage with physicians, managers, and colleagues regarding medical record documentation guidelines and regulations.
β’ Address inquiries related to the proper documentation of diagnostic and procedural services.
β’ Maintain a comprehensive understanding of coding and documentation principles as well as assigned medical specialties.
β’ Attend relevant in-services and seminars related to assigned medical specialties and documentation requirements.
β’ Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations through regular review.
β’ Evaluate physician documentation and accurately code all professional services utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS codes, and modifiers.
β’ Conduct daily reviews of the EPIC Charge Review Work queues.
β’ Take part in physician training and educational initiatives.
β’ Keep yearly certification as a CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT.
β’ CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT certification is REQUIRED.
β’ Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology is preferred.
β’ Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
