Professional Fee Abstractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +14 more states.

📋 Description

• Ensure timely abstraction of charges for all applicable patient encounters within the Nemours Children's Clinical Practice.

• Report the abstracted charges through EPIC EHR, external interfaces, or other approved methods.

• Engage with physicians, managers, and colleagues regarding medical record documentation guidelines and regulations.

• Address inquiries related to the proper documentation of diagnostic and procedural services.

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of coding and documentation principles as well as assigned medical specialties.

• Attend relevant in-services and seminars related to assigned medical specialties and documentation requirements.

• Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations through regular review.

• Evaluate physician documentation and accurately code all professional services utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS codes, and modifiers.

• Conduct daily reviews of the EPIC Charge Review Work queues.

• Take part in physician training and educational initiatives.

• Keep yearly certification as a CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT certification is REQUIRED.

• Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology is preferred.

• Candidates must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
