Production Coding Specialist II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate documentation for necessary components, such as attestations, signatures, and dates.

• Abstract and categorize surgical procedures from all CPT categories and map surgical codes to ASA codes.

• Code intricate anesthesia cases.

• Utilize appropriate modifiers.

• Code ICD-10.

• Code cases across diverse locations and high-complexity scenarios.

• Abstract anesthesia durations and occurrences.

• Identify and designate care team providers.

• Review for medical direction.

• Achieve team KPIs, including daily production targets and quarterly coding audit score expectations.

• Manage escalation workflows and address coder inquiries for additional information.

• Process coding rejections and responses from physicians.

• Address assigned IDX edits and claim denials.

• Comply with company policies and procedures, particularly regarding HIPAA and confidentiality.

• Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum 3-5 years of surgical coding experience.

• At least 2 years of anesthesia coding experience.

• Current CPC certification required.

• CANPC certification is an advantage.

• Experience in complex surgical coding.

• Proficient in coding for physicians, CRNA, CAA, NP, SRNA, and residents.

• Familiarity with various EMRs and documentation formats/templates, including handwritten notes and electronic medical records.

• Knowledge of NCCI bundling.

• Familiarity with LCD/NCD.

• Understanding of CMS coding guidelines.

• Capability to review and ascertain start and end times, care team members, and medical direction.

• Ability to adhere to departmental playbooks and workflows.

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and Outlook.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Ten-key proficiency.

• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

• Strong computer skills.

• Ability to work independently.

• Self-motivated to initiate new projects.

• Must reside in the United States, excluding California, Hawaii, and Alaska.
