ED Facility Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding services across a minimum of 1–4 specialties

• Conduct professional fee, facility, or HCC coding tasks

• Code surgical procedures commonly found in an ER environment to optimize revenue generation when suitable

• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the utmost level of specificity

• Precisely assign ICD-10-CM, CPT®, and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure accurate code assignment

• Evaluate the significance of documentation on code assignment and its effect on reimbursement

• Operate independently from home while providing coding services to clients

• Adhere to AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding, the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and internal policies

• Engage in company-sponsored training and education programs

• Ensure compliance with privacy and security regulations while safeguarding confidential information and PHI

• Execute additional duties as assigned by leadership


⛳️ Requirements

• Certification from AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P) is mandatory

• At least 6 months of practical work experience is required

• Consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance is essential

• Familiarity and experience with EMR and billing systems are necessary

• A phone, dependable internet connection, and up-to-date CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references are required

• Ability to maintain a productivity and accuracy rate of 95% or higher

• Capability to uphold a quality score of 95% or above

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is required

• Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effective and professional interaction

• Competence in coordinating, analyzing, observing, making decisions, and meeting deadlines

• Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours each day

• Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs. occasionally
