Physician Practice Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform CPT and ICD-10 coding assessments by reviewing each line item in physician medical records and charge sessions.

• Conduct chart audits to verify precise coding and charge capture.

• Collaborate with revenue cycle stakeholders to comprehend denials, carry out root cause analysis, and furnish provider feedback.

• Examine patient medical records and extract diagnoses and procedures.

• Code diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers utilizing ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS systems.

• Sequence diagnoses, procedures, and complications in accordance with applicable coding and regulatory standards.

• Consult with the CDCI team and medical personnel to clarify details within medical records.

• Uphold departmental productivity benchmarks and maintain current coding knowledge.

• Address and respond to coding inquiries.

• Ensure that billed services are coded accurately.

• Provide updates on coding practices and investigate coding issues.

• Review charts for proper documentation and required signatures.

• Perform additional responsibilities as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate Degree (or equivalent work experience of at least 2 years).

• CPC – Certified Professional Coder.

• CPC-A – Certified Professional Coder Apprentice.

• 2-5 years of experience in a multi-specialty physician coding environment, encompassing coding, compliance, and billing processes.

• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, and CPT-4.

• Fundamental understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology.

• Strong expertise in health records, computerized billing and charging systems, Microsoft applications, data integrity, and processing methods.

• Competence in multi-tasking, prioritizing critical tasks, following through, and adhering to timelines.

• High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.

• Problem-solving abilities utilizing job knowledge and current policies/procedures.

• Capacity to work collaboratively with healthcare delivery team members and staff.

• Ability to manage frequent interruptions, adapt to workload and schedule changes, and respond promptly to urgent requests.
