This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Take ownership of the technical strategy for Exercise and Training, outlining the products and services that SCT provides to customers in the UK.
• Lead the architectural design of Operational Technology (OT) Range capabilities, focusing on identity, segmentation, continuous verification, and policy-driven access.
• Define and enhance Exercise and Training products, which include classification, tagging, encryption, and strategies for attribute-based access control.
• Promote the integration of Thales security products and solutions within Exercise and Training capabilities.
• Create defensible design patterns for OT Exercising and assurance capabilities based at the Ebbw Vale facility.
• Offer technical leadership to engineering teams, steering the implementation, testing, and assurance of Exercise and Training offerings.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to convert complex exercise and training concepts into clear, actionable decisions.
• Establish internal standards, patterns, and governance across various programmes.
• Represent the organization in external working groups, standards bodies, and partner ecosystems.
• Propel next-generation exercise and training capabilities leveraging new technologies and architectural patterns, including opportunities in AI.
• Direct the technical strategy for the Exercise and Training capability.
• Specify technologies for Thales UK’s Cyber Exercise product offerings.
• Work alongside technical leads in Ebbw Vale to determine product requirements and architectures for OT Training catering to MOD customers.
• Operate concurrently at the architecture, engineering, and governance levels by defining blueprints, ensuring implementation, and influencing the organization.
• A degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in a Technical Authority, Design Authority, or a similar senior engineering position.
• Profound expertise in contemporary security engineering practices.
• Strong comprehension of ICS/SCADA environments, industrial operations and processes, PLC/DCS/SIS environments, industrial networking, remote access in OT, OT incident response, and considerations for industrial safety.
• Familiarity with the Purdue model, principles of OT resilience, high-availability operations, and critical infrastructure environments.
• Awareness of the OT threat landscape.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK for ICS, adversary behaviors, industrial ransomware threats, OT detection and monitoring concepts, and incident response coordination.
• Competence in risk communication and delivery of cyber awareness.
• Understanding of OT security governance and assurance.
• Experience in exercise facilitation and scenario management.
• Familiarity with adult learning and instructional design principles.
• Development of technical training materials.
• Proficient in executive briefing and communication skills.
• Capable of facilitating workshops and engaging stakeholders.
• Ability to simplify complex technical subjects for diverse audiences.
• Experience in programme leadership.
• Engagement with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Knowledge of organizational change management.
• Strategic planning and roadmap development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to influence both operational and executive stakeholders.
• Proficiency in designing and reviewing high-assurance architectures for regulated, mission-critical environments.
• Proven track record of leading complex technical decisions, challenging suppliers, and offering defensible recommendations.
• Established ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and maintain a robust external network.
• A strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
• SC Clearance is required; the successful candidate must undergo, achieve, and maintain this clearance.
• Generally, eligibility for full SC clearance necessitates UK residence for the past 5 years; in certain cases, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, subject to additional overseas checks.
