Product Manager, Data Orchestration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the entire product lifecycle for data orchestration, encompassing the identification of customer challenges through to technical specifications, prototyping, and final delivery.

• Design data-centric orchestration focusing on datasets, lineage, freshness, and data quality.

• Enhance integrations with dbt, Fivetran, Airbyte, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Kafka, and the Kestra plugin ecosystem.

• Facilitate smoother migrations for teams transitioning from Airflow and similar orchestration tools.

• Work alongside the Product Lead and CTO to define and outline features for each 8-week release cycle.

• Make trade-offs that balance simplicity, technical viability, and long-term sustainability.

• Oversee development progress, ensuring features are delivered, QA'd, documented, and ready for release.

• Continuously enhance the product using customer insights, usage data, and community feedback.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proactive, startup-oriented Product Manager who thrives in environments without extensive processes or rigid structures.

• Strong background in the data domain, with hands-on experience in building or managing data pipelines.

• Practical knowledge of dbt, Fivetran or Airbyte, and data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.

• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Kestra.

• Solid understanding of scheduling, backfills, retries, and interdependencies among datasets.

• Exceptional communication skills, with clarity in writing specifications, product decisions, and publicly-facing documentation.

• Full ownership mentality and the ability to rapidly iterate based on feedback.

• Experience or familiarity with open-source development and comfort discussing product changes publicly in GitHub repositories.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams across various time zones.

• Bonus: Previous experience as a data engineer or analytics engineer.

• Bonus: Experience migrating from Airflow or another orchestrator to a new platform.

• Bonus: Background in a B2B software or open-source organization.

• Bonus: Exposure to SaaS products, particularly self-service or platform-oriented solutions.

• Bonus: Familiarity with data engineering communities and tools adoption.
