Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Senegal, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance payment solutions for Wave users.

• Take ownership of the entire process from identifying issues to delivering solutions and assisting customer support in problem resolution.

• Collaborate within a self-directed, cross-functional team dedicated to a specific aspect of Wave's product.

• Create features and enhancements from start to finish, covering design to deployment.

• Facilitate Wave app payments for products available in retail settings.

• Partner with electrical utility companies to enable bill payment options.

• Develop tools that allow business owners to manage employee salary payments through Wave.

• Implement payment solutions for transportation services including taxis, trains, and buses.

• Engage with backend, API, mobile, web frontend, database, infrastructure, and orchestration systems.

• Resolve operational challenges, clarify product requirements, and navigate unfamiliar code to assist colleagues.

• Produce concise pull requests, strive for minimum viable products (MVPs), and maintain a balance between speed, accuracy, and security for financial applications.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a product engineer.

• Proficient in English.

• Bilingual proficiency in French is a significant advantage.

• Willingness to travel to one of Wave's operational sites at least once a year for a minimum of 6 consecutive days.

• Must reside in the UK, Spain, Kenya, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, or Burkina Faso.

• Openness to work across the entire technology stack, including mobile development.

• Prior experience with the specified technologies is a substantial advantage, though not mandatory.
