Private Cloud – Infrastructure Operations Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Oversee the health, utilization, and capacity of all private cloud environments.

• Handle compute provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.

• Monitor resource utilization and generate reports to enhance efficiency and accountability.

• Manage quotas, address capacity challenges, and strategize for future growth.

• Provide initial operational support, triage incidents, implement known fixes, and escalate as necessary.

• Uphold operational standards, access controls, and governance policies.

• Facilitate environment intake and provisioning for users.

• Assist with compute and storage infrastructure operations, including server lifecycle, Ceph storage, and shared services.

• Keep operational documentation and runbooks up to date.

• Take part in on-call rotations for infrastructure services.

• Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure efficiency and automation.

• Be a part of Cloudera's Cloud Operations team, supporting both private cloud and broader infrastructure operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant academic background / BS or MS in a related field or equivalent experience.

• Over 3 years of experience operating large-scale cloud or virtualized infrastructure.

• Proficient in Linux systems administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).

• Practical experience with distributed storage systems (Ceph preferred) or SAN operations.

• Familiarity with monitoring stacks, dashboards, alerting, and capacity planning techniques.

• Experience with virtualization technologies (OpenStack, KVM, VMware, or similar).

• Knowledge of Kubernetes cluster operations (node management, cluster lifecycle).

• Comfortable enforcing standards, ensuring compliance, and holding users accountable for resource wastage.

• Capable of writing and maintaining clear runbooks, procedures, and operational documentation.

• Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly to stakeholders.
