Privacy Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to internal business teams regarding compliance with U.S. federal and state privacy regulations.

• Draft, assess, and negotiate agreements related to privacy matters.

• Create and implement privacy policies and governance structures.

• Assist internal stakeholders with incident response processes.

• Perform privacy impact assessments for new products, services, systems, and data applications.

• Keep track of legislative changes and provide insights on emerging privacy trends.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy into business practices.

• Offer practical, risk-oriented legal counsel concerning personal and health-related information.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law institution and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• 2-4 years of legal practice experience with an emphasis on data privacy, cybersecurity, technology law, or healthcare regulations.

• Proven operational experience in managing data privacy programs.

• Established skills in managing and responding to data privacy incidents.

• Strong understanding of key privacy laws and regulatory frameworks (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and similar legislation).

• Experience in drafting and negotiating privacy-related contract clauses in a commercial environment.

• Outstanding research, analytical, and communication abilities.
