Principal Transmission Line Engineer, Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee a vibrant team engaged in electric transmission line design initiatives.

• Design and assess high-voltage and extra high-voltage overhead and underground electric utility lines.

• Implement NESC, ASCE, and other relevant standards.

• Conduct regular design evaluations in a principal engineering capacity.

• Mentor and develop junior team members.

• Participate in the preparation of bids and proposals.

• Carry out site visits to client substation facilities.

• Travel occasionally for client meetings and industry-related events.

• Engage in client-facing activities such as lunch-and-learns and kickoff meetings.

• Adhere to quality control and safe work practices.

• Ensure compliance with project scope, timelines, and budget expectations.

• Contribute to the expansion of a dynamic design team comprising engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.


⛳️ Requirements

• 12+ years of pertinent experience in designing electric utility transmission systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.

• Possession of a P.E. License.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in PLS-CADD, POLE, TOWER, SAG10, LPILE or FAD, and Microsoft Office suite.

• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

• Familiarity with NESC code requirements, construction cost estimating, specifications, material procurement processes, project scheduling, and construction work packages.

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred).

• Project Management Professional certification (preferred).

• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, Bentley ProjectWise, ESRI ArcGIS Programs, and Microsoft SharePoint (preferred).
