This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as WMCC's primary technical expert in electric transmission engineering, encompassing system planning studies and the design of physical substations.
• Assess and confirm the accuracy of transmission interconnection studies, system impact analyses, and facility assessments prepared by utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and third-party engineering firms.
• Oversee the technical aspects of substation design packages created by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
• Ensure adherence to NERC, NESC, IEEE, and specific utility design standards.
• Provide technical supervision during the construction phase for transmission lines and substations, alongside high-voltage equipment procurement.
• Collaborate with construction management teams, EPCs, and utility construction and inspection personnel.
• Work with Development teams to convert utility-supplied technical specifications into actionable engineering scopes.
• Assess the technical risks and schedule implications of constraints related to transmission and substations.
• Offer insights to development, commercial, and finance teams.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of NERC reliability standards and regional transmission planning guidelines across active development markets.
• Represent WMCC in technical discussions with utility and RTO transmission planning and engineering peers.

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of transmission planning studies (load flow, short circuit, stability) and fundamental principles of substation design (protection & control, equipment specification, physical layout).
• Direct experience with utility interconnection procedures, including queue studies and reviews of system impact and facility studies.
• Familiarity with NERC reliability standards and regional transmission planning criteria in at least one major U.S. market (PJM, MISO, ERCOT, WECC, SPP, or similar).
• Proven ability to function as a senior technical contributor, translating intricate engineering analyses into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
• Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Relevant experience in hyperscale data center or other large-load interconnection projects.
• Experience transitioning from a utility or transmission owner setting to a large-load developer or EPC environment.
• Background in substation construction management or technical oversight during the construction phase.
