This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the technical lead for substation physical and/or Protection & Control projects.
• Provide engineering oversight across multiple projects from initial scoping to commissioning.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for client and internal stakeholder engagement.
• Align project scope, address complex design challenges, and manage client expectations effectively.
• Take ownership of quality control governance for substation physical and P&C design deliverables.
• Establish and uphold QC standards while reviewing the work of senior and staff engineers.
• Conduct expert-level reviews and provide final approval on substation design drawings.
• Oversee the development and validation of bills of materials for physical and P&C scopes.
• Maintain accountability for quality control throughout the design lifecycle.
• Lead project execution from scoping and conceptual design to final design, construction support, and project closeout.
• Ensure that schedule, budget, and quality objectives are achieved.
• Verify that designs comply with or surpass National Electrical Safety Code requirements.
• Interpret and modify client design standards while offering advice on design alternatives.
• Mentor and guide designers/drafters as well as junior/staff engineers with technical direction.
• Assist with construction activities, including resolving RFIs, field engineering, and conducting constructability reviews.
• Occasionally travel to customer sites for field investigations, walkdowns, and construction oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of ten (10+) years of experience in substation design.
• PE License is highly preferred.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and clients.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Capability to collaborate and lead efficiently within a team environment.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Willingness to travel to client sites or an office as required (approximately 10% travel).
