This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.
• Evaluate First Article Inspections for new or modified components, assemblies, or materials
• Examine engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Assess parts for dimensional, material, and functional conformity
• Work collaboratively with suppliers to address issues identified in FAIR reports
• Liaise with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve discrepancies and non-conformities
• Ensure adherence to AS9100, AS9102, regulatory standards, and company policies
• Provide training and mentorship to team members on FAI procedures and best practices
• Identify and execute improvements in the FAI process
• Assist in the deployment of digital solutions and automated data analytics
• Oversee moderately sized projects or processes as required
• Coordinate with the supplier FAI Center of Excellence team located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
• Travel up to 30% to supplier sites and Collins locations
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or at least 3 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree
• Background in quality control, inspection, or related fields
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory
• Preferred experience with First Article Inspection standards such as AS9102 and PPAP
• Experience in special process assessments and audits, including NDT, heat treating, welding, brazing, plating, and chemical processing specifications is preferred
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and Net-Inspect is advantageous
• Experience with quality management systems and ERP systems is desirable
• Proficiency in MS Office applications is preferred
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Capability to analyze and interpret data for informed decision-making
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating across teams
