This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and uphold the technical roadmap and architecture for the TTA Hub.
• Set engineering standards, code quality practices, architectural principles, and criteria for technical design reviews.
• Oversee intricate architectural and technical decisions throughout the application.
• Offer technical direction and support to the software engineering team.
• Design robust cloud-native services, data flows, integration boundaries, and enhancements for capacity.
• Evaluate and prototype potential technologies and framework upgrades.
• Analyze security, accessibility, performance, migration, licensing, and operational impacts prior to recommending changes.
• Provide technical leadership in Node.js/TypeScript, React, relational databases, cloud infrastructure, and integrations.
• Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps, data, UX, QA, and security teams.
• Assist engineering teams in resolving production issues, architectural flaws, performance challenges, and technical debt.
• Act as incident commander during major production outages and data integrity incidents.
• Manage technical responses, restoration efforts, root cause analyses, and remediation processes.
• Lead the transfer of technical knowledge during the transition of the existing TTA Hub environment.
• Maintain a record of knowledge transfer to ensure continuity of operations.
• Advocate for maintainable engineering practices, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in software engineering.
• At least five (5) years of experience in establishing architecture or technical standards for production distributed systems.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Proven experience in designing and supporting enterprise or distributed production systems.
• Extensive experience with cloud-native application architecture and modern web application development.
• Practical technical expertise in Node.js/TypeScript and React.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and application data architecture.
• Experience in setting software architecture, engineering standards, code-quality practices, and technical design criteria.
• Experience in evaluating technology options and architectural alternatives considering security, performance, maintainability, accessibility, operational, and migration factors.
• Proven technical leadership skills, including the capability to guide engineers through complex architectural and design decisions.
• Experience in diagnosing and leading recovery from significant production incidents or system failures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and secure a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting Federal digital services or software development programs.
• Preferred: Experience in supporting Federal Authorization to Operate (ATO) activities.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud.gov or Cloud Foundry environments.
• Preferred: Experience in modernizing or enhancing established or legacy production applications while ensuring operational continuity.
• Preferred: Familiarity with open-source software licensing and its implications for Federal technology environments.
• Preferred: Experience in leading technical transition and knowledge transfer activities when taking over an existing production application.
• Preferred: Experience in providing architectural leadership across multidisciplinary Agile software development teams.
• Fully remote work arrangement.
• Full-time schedule with core hours aligned to Eastern Time.
