This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Chile.
• Take charge of the technical vision and roadmap for Sezzle’s authentication and authorization platform, which includes a dedicated API authentication gateway and associated identity services.
• Design, architect, and construct scalable, highly available authentication services and gateway components primarily utilizing Golang, AWS, RDS, and distributed patterns.
• Lead phased migrations with zero downtime, ensuring rollback and safety mechanisms are in place.
• Set standards for authentication and authorization encompassing OAuth2/OIDC, token strategies, service-to-service authentication, and fine-grained authorization models.
• Promote consistency and scalability across distributed microservices while upholding performance, reliability, and latency budgets.
• Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams to meet fintech-grade security and regulatory standards.
• Implement engineering best practices related to observability, security, and CI/CD.
• Engage in on-call rotation, directing incident responses and conducting postmortems.
• Guide and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and operational excellence.
• Work cross-functionally to convert business objectives into technical roadmaps and achieve results.
• Over 12 years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong emphasis on backend development.
• Recently deployed significant updates to a production application within the last 30 days.
• Extensive hands-on experience with authentication and authorization systems including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, session-based authentication, token lifecycle management, RBAC, ABAC, and policy-as-code.
• Background in designing, building, or managing an API gateway or authentication proxy at scale.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale service extraction or migration with zero or minimal customer impact.
• Strong expertise in Golang along with experience in building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in SQL-based RDBMS, such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, with a focus on schema and query performance optimization.
• Familiarity with distributed systems patterns, which may include transactional outbox, event-driven architecture, and queues.
• Capability to present ideas, influence decisions, and spearhead complex technical initiatives across teams.
• Demonstrated current use of AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or custom LLM integrations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (mandatory).
