Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold enterprise infrastructure roadmaps, modernization strategies, and long-term technology frameworks.

• Spearhead the design, execution, and maintenance of intricate infrastructure solutions that encompass colocation, AWS cloud, networking, storage, virtualization, and identity services.

• Set forth enterprise architecture standards, technical guidelines, and operational best practices.

• Assess and adopt emerging technologies that enhance scalability, reliability, security, and operational efficiency.

• Direct large-scale initiatives in cloud, networking, security, and platform areas.

• Ensure that technical solutions are aligned with business goals.

• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to infrastructure engineers, acting as the highest-level escalation point for complex technical challenges.

• Preserve platform availability, reliability, security, scalability, and long-term viability.

• Create and uphold comprehensive technical documentation, standards, and procedures.

• Propel continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and resiliency initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 10 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure engineering within complex enterprise environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Candidates with relevant Military or specialized training along with extensive experience will also be taken into account.

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Trusts, Group Policy, DNS, PowerShell, DFS, and Microsoft SQL Server.

• In-depth knowledge of VMware vCenter, ESXi, vMotion, and Omnissa Horizon.

• Familiarity with PingOne (or equivalent IdP), SSO, SAML, and the integration of these technologies with Active Directory.

• Strong networking skills, including experience with Cisco and Meraki switching, Cisco routing, TCP/IP, ODBC, and JDBC.

• Experience with PRTG or similar monitoring platforms and SNMP.

• Knowledge of IBM Storwize, SAN technologies, Fibre Channel, and iSCSI.

• Outstanding verbal, written, and technical documentation skills.
